Chud Johnson News founders Chud Johnson and Petrina Martinez were all smiles Thursday after receiving a "Certificate of Participation" from the Regional Association of Emergency Services Journalism, an award that technically exists and was definitely not made up.

"We're honored to be recognized," Chud said, holding the certificate, which appeared to be printed on standard copier paper. "This puts us in the same category as... well, everyone who entered. But still."

The award was presented after CJN's submission was described by judges as "memorable," "unique," and "genuinely concerning in places." The specific broadcast in question featured Petrina standing in the background of an active fire scene while Chud attempted to interview a goat that had escaped during the evacuation.

"The goat segment was groundbreaking," Petrina defended. "No one else was covering the goat angle. That's called initiative."

CJN has announced plans to display the certificate prominently in their news van, next to several parking tickets and a commemorative photo from "that time Chud met a fire chief who didn't immediately walk away."

Judges have declined to comment on whether CJN will be invited back next year.
