A recent survey of first responders has revealed that 73% of Chud Johnson News readers arrived at the site "by accident," "through a misdirected link," or because "someone sent it as a joke."

"We're thrilled with these numbers," said CJN founder Chud Johnson. "Accidental engagement is still engagement. And once they're here, they usually stay for at least 30 seconds before realizing what they're looking at."

The survey, which was definitely conducted scientifically and not just by asking people at a fire station, also found that:

- 45% of readers have shared a CJN article "ironically"
- 23% have used CJN headlines as inside jokes with colleagues
- 89% were "confused" by at least one story
- 2% thought we were a real news organization

"That 2% keeps us going," Petrina admitted. "Somewhere out there, someone thinks we're legitimate. We can't let them down."

CJN has announced plans to expand its reach through more "accidentally shareable" content and headlines that "seem real until you read them."
