Engine 4 responded to reports of a "vicious wild animal" trapped in a residential oak tree Wednesday, only to discover the culprit was a moderately-sized raccoon with, according to witnesses, "serious attitude problems."

"The homeowner described it as 'huge and terrifying,'" said Captain Williams. "It was maybe 15 pounds. But I'll admit, when it hissed at me from that branch, I did briefly reconsider my career choices."

The rescue operation, expected to take minutes, stretched to over an hour as the raccoon systematically defeated every attempt to capture it. Firefighter Chen's leather gloves were "no match for those tiny hands," and the department's catch pole was "actively mocked" by the animal.

"It kept making direct eye contact," reported a visibly shaken Firefighter Rodriguez. "Like it was judging us. Like it knew we went to fire school for this."

The raccoon eventually descended on its own terms and "waddled away like it owned the place." Animal control has been contacted but admits they're "not really eager to meet this one."
